Football/AFL Career:
My passion for football ignited at an early age – as soon as I found my footing, football became a constant companion. My journey in junior football started at Belmont Football Club, where I earned my stripes in all talent squads at Perth Football Club during the 14s and 15s development squads. Progressing to the Colts level with Perth Football Club presented both challenges and opportunities. A setback in my first Colts year, due to injury, interrupted my draft aspirations, but resilience prevailed, leading to my draft selection in the second year, marking the commencement of my AFL journey with the Fremantle Dockers.
Over nine years, I proudly wore the Fremantle jumper. My on-field ability and contribution were acknowledged in 2012 with a runner-up Best and Fairest award in a breakout year. Additionally Honoured with being named in the 2013 All-Australian Squad.
In 2017, I embarked on a journey interstate, joining the esteemed Collingwood Magpies to close out my illustrious playing career. This chapter marked a new beginning, contributing my skills and experience to a fresh environment.
Over my AFL playing career, I was grateful to play in 19 finals and the exceptional fortune of gracing the stage of two Grand Finals. Football, a constant companion since my earliest steps, has been more than a game. It has been a teacher, shaping my character, instilling resilience, and providing a canvas for unforgettable moments that span from the grassroots to the grandest stages of the AFL.
Throughout my extensive years in the AFL, a secret passion has always burned within me – coaching. Beyond the cheers of the crowd and the adrenaline on the field, I’ve found immense satisfaction in guiding and shaping the future of the game. Holding Level 2 & 3 coaching accreditations, completing the Next Coach program, delving into AFL list management, securing a Diploma of Sport, and progressing toward my Bachelor of Education, I’ve diligently equipped myself for the coaching arena.
Coaching Experience/Drive:
Currently serving as the Director of Football and Head Coach at Trinity College, as well as a skills specialist and development coach at South Fremantle FC. I have achieved Level 2 and Level 3 coaching accreditations, successfully completed the Next Coach program, acquired my AFL list management accreditation, earned a Diploma of Sport and Management, and am currently in the process of completing my Bachelor of Education. I’ve made coaching not just a profession but a profound calling. My passion extends beyond the game, transcending the boundary lines to impact the lives of aspiring athletes. The accumulation of vast experience and dedicated time invested in coaching has provided me with invaluable insights into the intricacies of the sport and its mentorship aspects.
My journey has been more than personal achievements and accolades – it’s been about cultivating a reservoir of knowledge and wisdom to share with the next generation. Education, both on and off the field, is my commitment. It’s about nurturing the dreams of young footballers, instilling in them the skills, values, and mindset necessary to fulfill their aspirations of gracing the AFL stage.
I look forward to working with the next generations and hope to see you all down at the Mayne Academy soon!
